What Is Portrait Photography

Portraiture is the other term for portrait photography which shows appearance, facial features, traits and behavior of the subject matter. The main concern of any portrait photographer is a person’s face. In this kind of photography, the main character would be one person or two, or a group or even people in the community. Usually, portraiture is seen on photo albums. However, to be able to have quality photos, you must know and understand that there should be an interaction between the main character and the photographer.

In order to have quality portrait photos, a photographer should know by heart the four kinds of approach. First, is the constructionist approach wherein the photographer would think of an idea that makes his photo realistic like a happy and excited bride or a proud husband. Second is the candid approach. This is like stolen shot. Third is the environmental approach. The photo should have a strong interaction with its location. Lastly, would be the creative approach where there is additional creative touch which could be done digitally.

You can choose any kind of approach. What is important is how you make it more fascinating in the eye of your viewers especially in the eye of your subject.
